Become Active in One of Our Themes
Our program sets up joint activities, projects or cooperations in the areas of research, development and production. Groups of members, Kenyan and Ethiopian parties can jointly become active on a certain theme that fits their business profiles. Our five main themes are:
Climate
Climate management and sustainable energy such as solar, biomass and geothermal.Climate and Energy
Now that greenhouses are increasingly being used to protect crops against the negative impacts of the outside environment, it is time for the next stop: optimising the climate and energy inside.
Crop
Cultivation systems, crop protection, IPM, starting material (young plants, seeds) and propagation.Crop Management
Our modular set-up will allow growers or investors to choose the most suitable module suiting their own conditions and in time “grow” to a higher level of production technology.
Water
Irrigation, recirculation, water storage and treatment, substrate cultivation.Water Management
Farms can become more productive at lower running costs and more sustainable while using less water and fertilisers and waste into the environment by the efficient management of water.
Logistics
Post harvest procedures and treatments, import & export, transport and ICT.Post-Harvest Logistics
For shipments the quality of the flower and post-harvest chain are tremendously important. For many flower producers in East Africa the post-harvest phase is an area where great gains can be made.
Research
Studies, seminars, capacity building, joint research and testing.Knowledge Exchange
Green Farming sets up demonstration projects with local businesses and knowledge institutions to show which technologies are available and how these can be applied locally.
Explore Our Projects
Together we develop sustainable, cost efficient and innovative projects all over East Africa. To understand what it is that we do we have highlighted a couple of our projects below.
Improving Living Standards of Vegetable Growers
The main aim of the program is to contribute to the improvement of living standards of vegetable growers. Through the program, Dutch horticultural knowledge and technology will become available for the benefit of local growers. The core of the program is to demonstrate greenhouse production technology adapted to local production conditions, supported by an extensive knowledge transfer and capacity building.
Our Partners/Members
The Green Farming consortium consists of approximately 25 leading companies in horticulture technology which supports the program and is actively involved on the level of training and knowledge transfer. The program is coordinated by the foundation Green Farming. Depending on the nature of the project, companies are asked to join and to cooperate joint to develop the market.
